Calling upon the government to withdraw the Bharat Ratna conferred upon Rajiv Gandhi, BJP national secretary Sardar R.P. Singh, along with AAP leader and senior advocate H.S. Phoolka, on Thursday said that Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister, justified the killing of innocent citizens and does not deserve the Bharat Ratna.
Slamming the former Prime Minister, Mr Singh said that 31 years ago, on November 19,1984, Mr Gandhi had justified the killing of 3,000 innocent citizens of this country by saying that “when the big tree falls, the earth shakes”.
Mr Singh informed that during the speech, Rajiv Gandhi was addressing at the Boat Club, comprising workers of the Congress and party leaders who had indulged in the killing of the Sikhs just 2 weeks earlier.
“Further, Mr Rajiv Gandhi rewarded the leaders whose names prominently figured in killing of the Sikhs,” Mr Singh said,
