Activists under the leadership of Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken held a demonstration outside the Delhi Assembly on the first day of the Winter Session protesting against the delay in passing the Jan Lokpal Bill by the Aam Aadmi Party government. The party also demanded that the Jan Lokpal Bill should be passed in the Winter Session itself.
Other party leaders like former DPCC president Arvinder Singh Lovely and Haroon Yusuf also took part in the protest.
Mr Maken said that the AAP government had pro-mised to pass the Bill within one month after coming to power, but it hasn’t done so although it has been in power in its second term for over nine months.
He also recalled that the Kejriwal government had resigned after being in power for 49 days in its first term, complaining that the Congress was not allowing it to pass the Lokpal Bill in the Assembly. “What was holding back the AAP government from passing the bill, now that it has 67 out of 70 MLAs in the Delhi Assembly ” he asked.
