NH7 Weekender in Dwarka will feature AR Rahman
In a bid to make the national capital an entertainment hub, the Delhi government on Monday announced it will conduct the “NH7 Weekender” — a slew of events for both national and international artistes. The Delhi government has collaborated with the Event and Entertainment Management Association, an event promoter brand, to streamline the process of conducting events in the future.
“We have already streamlined the process of conducting events and eased the rules and regulations to book a venue in the capital. Permission to conduct Zubin Mehta’s concert was given within a month. We strongly believe that all kinds of events, including international events, can be conducted in Delhi,” tourism minister Kapil Mishra said. Stressing that such an initiative will be beneficial as a public-private partnership, the minister said the new step will also lead to other states turning themselves into entertainment hubs. Mr Mishra said the initiative will be a joint effort, and the city government will undertake the marketing tasks.
“The first event to be organised under this collaboration will be the NH7 Weekender which will be held on November 28 and 29. Grammy Award winner A.R. Rahman, one of the 50 artistes for the event, will be performing in the capital after seven years,” he said.
NH7 Weekender, one of India’s premier and multi-city music festivals, will be held at Dwarka Sector-10 on November 28-29.
Apart from Rahman, global names like Mark Ronson, Flying Lotus, Mogwai, Rodrigo y Gabriela, SBTRKT alongside Indian favourites like Vishal Dadlani, Niladri Kumar, Dr L. Subramaniam, Arka, Selvaganesh, Hriday Gattani, Nucleya, Parikrama, The Raghu Dixit Project, Ankur & the Ghalat Family and Swarathma will also feature at the two-day event.
EEMA president Sabbas Joseph said that “earlier they needed 14 licences to conduct a single show, but now it has been streamlined into a single-window option by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal”.
