Girl, 19, gangraped by 3 on pretext of job interview
A 19-year-old woman from Mathura was allegedly gangraped by three men who took her to a flat in east Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar area on the pretext of a job interview on Tuesday. No arrests have been made so far, but all the three accused have been identified and police teams have been dispatched to arrest them.
According to the police, the victim, who hails from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, had come to the capital to look for a job. She was staying with her sister in South Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar locality.
On Monday, while surfing the Internet she came in contact with one Zubair who claimed to be an employee of a placement agency and promised her a job with a good salary. “The victim was called to Laxmi Nagar on Tuesday afternoon for an intervi-ew,” said a senior police officer, adding, “Zubair pi-cked her up from the La-xmi Nagar Metro station in his car and took her to the fourth floor of a flat in Laxmi Nagar where two others, Shahid and Amj-ad, were already waiting.”
The police said that the three raped in turns. Later, Zubair dropped her back to the Laxmi Nagar Metro station, threatening her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the rape.
As soon as Zubair left, the victim called her sister and narrated the ordeal after which they went to the Shakarpur police station to file a complaint. The victim was taken for a medical examination and a case of rape was registered in connection with the incident.
Investigating officials said that the victim has named three men in her complaint and that the search is on. “Several places in Laxmi Nagar area have been raided,” said the investigating official, adding, “We suspect that the three have fled the city fearing arrest soon after the incident.“
“We have got some vital clues from the CCTV near the Laxmi Nagar Metro station and hope to arrest them soon.” Further investigations are on.
