Terming the amendments in the Delhi School Education Bill as “anti-teachers”, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said that the proposed amendments in the bill bars prohibition of screening in nursery admission.
The leader assailed the Arvind Kejriwal government’s proposed “Delhi School Education (Amendment) Bill, 2015”, being introduced in the current session of the Delhi Assembly, as anti-teachers, anti-students and anti-parents.
He opined that the proposed amendments will not lead to any improvement in education standard, check exploitation of teachers and staff in private schools or provide relief to the parents from fleecing by unscrupulous school management.
Meanwhile, stressing that no bill can be introduced in the Vidhan Sabha without the prior approval of the lieutenant-governor, three BJP MLAs met lieutenant-governor Najeeb Jung and said that the Delhi government is going to introduce eight important bills without his prior approval. However, the lieutenanr-governor assured the BJP delegation to look into their demand.
They demanded that the government should be directed to present the bill only after following all the rules, regulations and constitutional provisions.
“The presentation of bills without the approval of the L-G is a futile exercise as they become null and void. The bills which are proposed to be presented include the Delhi Schools Verification of Accounts and Refund of Excess Fee Act (amendment), Code of Criminal Procedure, Delhi School Education Bill, Working Journalists Provisions Act, Minimum Wages Bill,” Mr Gupta said.
The BJP leaders pointed out that the Kejriwal government is deliberately presenting these bills to befool public knowing fully well that they can’t be ultimately approved without following the proper procedure.
