Bihar verdict is beginning of end for Modi: Ajay Maken
Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his total failure to deliver on the promises he had made before the Lok Sabha elections, Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken termed the outcome of the Bihar Assembly elections as the beginning of the end of the BJP government at the Centre.
Expressing his heart-felt thanks to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi for the victory of the Congress-supported “Mahagathbandhan” in the Bihar Assembly elections, he said the results were a befitting reply to communal and divisive forces, who were trying to divide the country on communal and caste lines.
The party workers also celebrated the Congress-supported coalition’s victory in Bihar by bursting crackers and distributing sweets at its state headquarters in Rajiv Bhawan. Thousands of Congress workers shouted slogans, hailing Mrs Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for the success.
Mr Maken said it was not a mere victory for the Congress-supported large coalition in Bihar for their policies and programmes, but was also a verdict against the failure of the BJP-led NDA government on all fronts in the country. He said the Modi-led government at the Centre had made tall promises to the people before the parliamentary elections, but only to belie their expectations, by letting them down completely.
Mr Maken said the people of Bihar had voted against the Modi government for spreading intolerance in the country and making the lives of the minority communities insecure. He said for the past one-and-a-half years, the Prime Minister has been making only false promises and hollow speeches to befool people, but the people of Bihar have taught him a bitter lesson.
The Delhi Congress leader said the victory of the Congress-supported large coalition in Bihar was a victory for democratic and secular forces, who eschew communal and divisive politics. He said the Congress has always practised and supported the development of people of all faiths, castes and religions, and also ensured that the fruits of the country’s developments reached the poorest of the poor, and the marginalised.
Mr Maken said the people of Bihar have given a very commendable example to the people of the rest of the country by rejecting the BJP-supported NDA in the Assembly elections.
Mr Maken said the Modi government has not implemented any such scheme so far which would benefit the poor, farmers, middle class, downtrodden, dalits and adivasis whereas it has dolled out huge benefits to the corporate sector in overt and covert manner.
