5 arrested for murder of couple in South Delhi
The police on Saturday claimed to have solved the sensational robbery and murder of an elderly couple in South Delhi’s posh East of Kailash area on Friday night with the arrest of five persons.
The police said that the accused persons were identified as Mohammad Khalid (19), Ahmed (19), Mohammad Maqsood (19), Narender (25) and Mohammad Dilshad (24). Looted money and jewellery were also recovered from them although the police was yet to receive a list of the looted items. “We arrested two of the accused first and later their three accomplices were also arrested by police teams. All of them live at slums of Kaushambi in neighbouring Ghaziabad,” said joint commissioner of police (southeast range) R.S. Krishnia.
Manohar Lal Madan (85), a retired bank official, and his wife Vimla (80) were killed while they were asleep by the suspected robbers who entered their room on the ground floor of their house in southeast Delhi on the intervening night of November 12-13.
The robbers entered the house from the roof breaking open a store room there and then going down. The post-mortem of the deceased was conducted at AIIMS and the cause of death was opined as “smothering”.
