A three-year-old girl was allegedly abducted by an unemployed youth in Delhi’s Connaught Place area, but was tracked down and rescued by the police within 12 hours.

A three-year-old girl was allegedly abducted by an unemployed youth in Delhi’s Connaught Place area, but was tracked down and rescued by the police within 12 hours.

The toddler, whose mother suffers from mental illness, was kidnapped on Tuesday evening and found on Wednesday, the police said. The accused has been identified as Raj Shah (23). He allegedly abducted the girl to sell her off later, they said.

“When the information was received about the missing girl last evening, a team was formed and the accused was tracked early morning today, following which the girl was rescued and sent to a shelter home,” said DCP (New Delhi) Jatin Narwal.

The accused was held for abduction and the toddler’s mother was sent to a mental healthcare institute, the police added.
