Studies conducted over the years have found many positive effects of volunteering from increased self-esteem and improved satisfaction to lower blood pressure and cardiac risks. A study conducted by researchers at Carnegie Mellon University shows that older adults who volunteer for at least 200 hours per year decrease their risk of hypertension, or high blood pressure, by 40 per cent.

Helping others helps you too

Kindness and empathy have immense power to improve health. And those who serve others swear that it radically increases their satisfaction from life.
