Pune: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has introduced a special edition variant of its flagship SUV Fortuner to its line-up named TRD Celebratory Edition to boost sales ahead of the festival season.

With a price tag of Rs 33.85 lakh at Delhi showroom, it is Rs 2.15 lakh more expensive than the standard Fortuner 2.8D 4x2 AT. The SUV competes with the likes of the Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and Isuzu MU-X in the Indian market.

Sold only with the 2.8-litre diesel engine and six-speed automatic transmission in 4x2 configuration, the new variant celebrates 10 years of the success of Fortuner on the Indian roads. It was first launched in 2009.

Popular for both off-roading and city driving, the Fortuner with its imposing road presence, stability along with great riding comfort has made it the undisputed choice among SUV buyers in the country.

"The Fortuner has been dominating the SUV segment since its launch way back in 2009 and emerged as the 'SUV of choice' for Indians across the country," N. Raja, Deputy Managing Director at Toyota Kirloskar Motor told Financial Chronicle.
