Weeks ahead of the official unveiling of the Galaxy note 10, Korean giants Samsung has announced that it has started mass producing its next class of RAM modules for future flagship devices.

The company’s next gen phones will ship with the industry’s first 12GB LPDDR5 mobile DRAM modules. According to the company, the modules have been optimised for 5G and are future ready for all kinds of AI features.

Though the announcement is close to the launch of the Galaxy Note 10 series, it is unlikely that the phone will sport the new RAM modules because there isn’t really enough time in between for such an execution. The Note 10 series will mostly stick with the LPDDR4 modules, but the highest variants might feature 12GB of RAM.

The new modules are said to be 1.3 times faster than the last LPDDR4 modules. The LPDDR5 modules can reportedly achieve speeds of 5,500 Mbps, which the company says will maximise 5G and AI potential. The newer modules are also more power efficient, consuming 30 per cent lesser power than the current modules.
