Kolkata: Vowing to dethrone Trinamul Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee after the Lok Sabha Election Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday predicted that the âsunsetâ of her rule in West Bengal has started. He asserted that the âcountdownâ of Ms Banerjeeâs present term in power would start after a month as her âthroneâ has been shaken.
Mocking the West Ben-gal chief minister as a âst-ickerâ, Mr Modi underlined in an oblique reference to her name that Mamata stands for âgoo-nsâ only while the masses are being subjected to her nirmamata (brutality).
This was the second time when he campaigned for the polls in the state for two consecutive days. Mr Modi alleged at a BJP rally in Bolpur of Birb-hum, âThe reports of the first three phases of polling which have come have made it clear that Didiâs sun has started setting in West Bengal. Every nook and corner of the state is saying that the throne of the syndicate has been shaken. Didi has realised that the more the lotus blooms, the more trouble sheâd create. The more her throne has been trembling, the more she and her goons are getting agitated.â
He claimed, âWhatever happened in West Bengal on Thursday is the result of this anger. If Didi has the strength of goonda-ism, we also have the pow-er of democracy. I want to assure you that I will make Bengal free of Trinamulâs hooliganism. Exactly after one month, the election results will be out. On May 23 when the Modi Sarkar will come to power again, the countdown of the atrocious custodian of power will start in West Bengal too.â
Taking a dig at Ms Banerjee a rally at Ranaghat in Nadia, the PM argued, âSpeedbre-aker Didi is a sticker also. The BJP government at the Centre sends assistance for your welfare. But Didi pastes her own sticker on them. She is only up to pasting stickers instead of undertaking any hard work. From free electricity connections to cheap rations for poor people, everything is sent from New Delhi. Didi, however, pastes her sticker on them and collects Tolabaji Tax.â
He also termed Ms Banerjee âworse than the Communistsâ.
On Ms Banerjeeâs attacks on him over his foreign trips, Mr Modi explained that he travelled abroad to strengthen the countryâs bilateral relations. He credited Indiaâs diplomatic relations in securing the release of Indian aid worker Judith DâSouza, from Kolkata, from the terrorists with Afghanistan in 2016.
Referring to his awards by foreign countries, including UAE, he said, âDidi, you must learn from the UAE at least even if you donât wish to learn anything from Modi!â
