Mamata Banerjee scheduled to meet PM Modi today

Ms Banerjee, who has been one of the most vociferous critics of the PM would meet him around 4.30 pm on Wednesday, sources said.

New Delhi: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday arrived in the national capital on a three-day visit and was expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wedneday.

Ms Banerjee, who has been one of the most vociferous critics of the PM would meet him around 4.30 pm on Wednesday, sources said.

The meeting with the PM comes in the backdrop of the ongoing CBI investigations into the Sarada Ponzi scheme scam that alleges involvement of several TMC leaders and renewed efforts to question ADG, CID and former Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar. It would be the first meeting between Ms Banerjee and Mr Modi since the Prime Minister won his second term and took office in May.

Ms Banerjee was one of the first to wish the Prime Minister on his 69th birthday. Ms Banerjee wrote on Twitter: “Birthday greetings to Prime Minister @narendramodi ji”. Mr Modi also thanked her on Twitter.
