The last film to talk about surrogacy in Bollywood was 2001 film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke. Now, while we hear many makers toying with the idea, Kriti Sanon will soon be coming out with a film on the same subject called Mimi.

This film will see Kriti reuniting with her Barely Ki Barfi father Pankaj Tripathi. The film is based on Marathi film, Mala Aai Vhhaychy that bagged the National Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi in 2011. Directed by Laxman Utekar of Luka Chuppi fame, the film deals with the growing practice of surrogacy in India. A source reveals, “Kriti and Pankaj’s father and daughter jodi was highly appreciated in Bareily… and this time it’s an even more intense and emotional bonding that will be showcased in Mimi. The film completely revolves around Kriti, and Pankaj has a pivotal role as a father.” Set in a small town, Mimi goes on floors in December and is expected to release in mid-2020.
