After getting a tip-off, security forces undertook a search operation in the morning and cordoned the area to trace the terrorists.

'The two militants killed in Katpora encounter have been identified as Zeenat-ul-Islam and Shakeel Dar,' an official said.

According to officials, four AK-47 rifles and four haversacks were recovered from the slain terrorists.

Militants were trying to infiltrate from across the LoC in Tangdhar sector in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.

Police identified 2 slain militants as Eisa Fazili of Srinagar and Syed Owais of Kokernag (Anantnag).

During searches, the terrorists opened fire at the security forces who retaliated, leading to a gunfight.
