Ashok Chavan blames VBA for defeat, calls it BJP’s B team

Terming the Prakash Ambedkar-led alliance as the ‘B team of the BJP,’ he said it cost the Congress-NCP combine ‘nine to ten seats’ in the state.

The saffron alliance won 41 out of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. While the Congress won only one seat, NCP won four.

Prakash Ambedkar said that the Congress had already conceded defeat before the beginning of the elections.

During the Lok Sabha elections in the state, the VBA fielded 48 candidates, including one on an AIMIM ticket in Aurangabad.

The VBA leader claimed that the increase in voting percentage in the state has has favoured his party and it will win two seats.

The last two Lok Sabha polls have shown that the parties favoured by Mumbaikars have formed the government at the Centre.

'However funds of the Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST) were being used by the government for its own schemes,' Chavan said.

`Mr Sattar has announced his support to Harshvardhan Jadhav, who is contesting as an independent candidate from Aurangabad.

The Solapur seat is witnessing an interesting battle between former Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde and Jai Siddheshwar Swami (BJP).

Shinde served as Home minister during the previous UPA government led by Manmohan Singh.
