HCA president's post gets nomination filed by Mohammad Azharuddin

Azharuddin submitted his papers to former Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath on Wednesday.

Rayudu, who was a strong candidate to fill up India's No. 4 position was pipped by all-rounder Vijay Shankar in the World Cup squad.

The 33-year-old has written to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), saying his decision to retire was an emotional one.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the HCA, which would be held on July 21, is expected to deliberate the issue.

Azhar said he would take legal recourse to fight his case in courts.

Of the 8 members in fray, Mohammad Azharuddin was the only one ‘rejected’.

There was also the issue of whether Azharuddin is enrolled as an HCA voter or not.

As many as 60 persons have submitted their candidature for six posts on the Justice Lodha-recommended Apex Council.

Azharuddin fought a long legal battle and got a favourable order by Andhra High Court back in 2011 but BCCI never officially lifted his ban.
