CWC to meet in Gujarat today, Congress bugle on Modi turf

The CWC meeting is being held in Gujarat after a gap of 58 years. It was last held in the state at Bhavnagar in 1961.

Congress Working Committee -- the party's highest decision-making body -- was to meet in Ahmedabad after almost six decades.

The CWC meeting was originally due on February 26, but it has now been rescheduled to February 28.

The party had taken a decision in its plenary held last year to hold the CWC meeting outside Delhi.

Randeep Singh Surjewala criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that “arrogance had gone to his head”.

Party seeks to counter government’s ‘hate and violence’.

Congress Working Committee also condemned use of force against protesting farmers on their way to Delhi.

The CWC meeting coincides with the 150-th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The Modi government uses the Mahatma’s name in its Swachchh Bharat programme, that was also launched on October 2, 2014.
