Juhi-Sachin pair up for Santoshi Ma

Juhi Parmar along with husband Sachin Shroff will be seen playing an onscreen couple in Santoshi Ma. The actress tells us that she took up the show because of her reverence for the goddess. Speaking about how she bagged the show, Juhi says, “I don’t usually fast but this year I decided to fast for Navratri. Coincidentally, we got a call for this show on the first day of Navratri. So I do feel there was some connection between the two. We signed the show on the last day of Navratri, that is Ashtami, so the show is special to me. I have a deep connection with Santoshi Ma for the last four-five years. The bond is probably stronger today since I am a mother too. I always wanted a daughter and Ma fulfilled that wish. Whenever I face a problem the first thing I say is ‘Jai Mata Di’ — so this show was like a call from Ma.”

Sachin adds that mythology will always find a place among Indian audiences. He says, “The concept may be old but even today when we hear a song based on Santoshi Ma, we get emotional. Plus this was an opportunity to play a couple onscreen as well, so we went ahead with it.”
