Twitter, Spotify restores following cyber-attack

Major internet services including Twitter and Spotify who had suffered outages today following the DDoS attack have been restored to normal, says Dyn, a cloud-based Internet Performance Management company.

Earlier today, the internet service company Dyn said on its website that it had suffered a denial of service attack shortly after 1100 GMT.

“Starting at 11:10 UTC on October 21th [sic]-Friday 2016 we began monitoring and mitigating a DDoS attack against our Dyn Managed DNS infrastructure. Some customers may experience increased DNS query latency and delayed zone propagation during this time. Updates will be posted as information becomes available,” Dyn wrote on its website.

They said that the outages have primarily affected East US and Managed DNS customers.

In a twitter post Sound Cloud revealed that they had witnessed some “playing issues on iOS”, and “engineers are investigating the cause”. However, within an hour SoundCloud was able to locate and resolve the issue.

Other websites who were affected includes Airbnb, Reddit , Github, The Verge, PayPal, and many more.
