Sony Electronics has announced the launch of its new XAV-AX100 in-car audio system. The XAV-AX100 receiver includes smartphone connectivity along with high-power sound and EXTRA BASS feature and voice commands.

The new receiver will retail for a price of $499.99 dollars and features a 6.4-inch 800 x 480 pixel touchscreen LCD display, rear camera input and NFC and Bluetooth support.

Three pre-out connectivity options allows for system expandability to connect external amplifiers with a wide range of speaker connections, allowing sound enthusiasts to build their own bespoke system.

The highlight of the product is that, unlike its rivals, the Sony receiver supports both Apple CarPlay as well as Google’s Android Auto. At this price, the Sony XAV-AX100 is easily the most affordable aftermarket Andriod Auto or CarPlay unit in the market.

Other rivals, such as JVC or Pioneer make you choose between Android and iOS options, but Sony gives you the best of both worlds. The Sony XAV-AX100 will start shipping in late November.
