Apple’s Siri is known for being one of the best artificial intelligence personal voice assistants.

In what could be considered as a rare case, Apple’s Siri helped call for an ambulance and saved a one-year-old’s life after the mother shouted out to hew iPhone when her child stopped breathing.

Stacey Gleeson was having her iPhone with her when she ran to her child’s room in an emergency. When she saw her child, she dropped it to attend to her situation. The BBC reported the incident of the panicking mom who shouted at the iPhone from a distance to activate Siri. The AI software was instructed to call an emergency service and put her on speakerphone who in turn helped her to perform CPR on her child. She instructed Siri to call for an ambulance on speakerphone and was able to communicate with the emergency services while resuscitating her child. She told the BBC that she feels Siri saved her daughter’s life.

Gleeson’s daughter had been battling a chest infection and bronchiolitis, was breathing once again before the ambulance could arrive. The child made a full recovery, but every second was vital. Though the incident actually happened in March, the story went viral after Gleeson contacted Apple, who in turn alerted the Austrialin 7 News.

Gleeson contacted Apple to thank them and also mentioned that she was using an iPhone since a few months only. She also mentioned that she used to call her husband, who is in the Navy, on speakerphone, using Siri, while getting her children ready for bed. Gleeson is using an iPhone 6S and also mentions that if she wouldn’t have dropped her phone, she would be struggling to dial the number at the moment of panic, She said, Siri saved her the trouble of physically dialling the emergency services.
