HMD Global releases Android 8.0 oreo for Nokia 8

HMD Global-led Nokia has been lately in the news for all the good reason. Since the market has started seeing Nokia-branded Android phones catering to most budget categories, the company has made sure that its customers are one of the first ones to get the latest updates. After delivering timely security patches for all its smartphones, Nokia has finally started seeding Android 8.0 to its flagship Nokia 8.

Nokia 8 users around the globe have started receiving the Android Oreo update. The update is rolling out to users as an OTA update and should be substantial download. “We’re proud to deliver our pure and secure take of Android 8.0 Oreo on the Nokia 8. That’s why we’ve taken the time to test, optimise and refine the platform,” said Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global.

The Nokia 8 is one of the most powerful smartphones one can buy in the market, boasting flagship class specifications and competing with the likes of OnePlus 5/5T and Xiaomi’s Mi MIX 2. Android Oreo should bring certain new user-friendly features as well as enhance performance compared to Android Nougat. Nokia says that their Oreo update has minimal bloat so as to keep the experience fluid.
