While this news seems disturbing, you should not worry as your iPhone X is still safe. Two hackers have managed to crack into the iPhone X’s operating system and even recover the deleted data, which was part of a bug bounty program. They received a reward of $50,000 for finding the exploit at the Mobile Pwn2Own contest that took place in Tokyo.

This hack was presented at the Mobile contest where hackers were disclosing bugs on Android and iOS smartphones. Richard Zhu and Amat Cama were the two hackers who showed that the iPhone X on the latest iOS 12.1 was still vulnerable and a potential hacker could crack in and even restore a deleted file or photo with ease, reported Forbes.

Photos deleted from the iPhone don’t get deleted immediately, but it resides in the Recently Deleted folder for up to 40 days. The hackers discovered a way to recover these photos remotely. The hack was demonstrated at the event where the hackers attacked the phone using a malicious Wi-Fi access point. They found vulnerability in the just-in-time (JIT) compiler. This compiler was compromised and the hackers could gain access to the folder with ease.

Apple has been informed about the vulnerability and we assume that the Cupertino company will release a bug fix at the earliest.
