Indus OS keyboard to get regional voice recognition

If you are a smartphone aficionado, then you must have heard about Indus OS — a completely indigenously developed operating system for the Indian masses. The OS is already a part of 8 million smartphones in India and to aid its users, Indus has unveiled a new keyboard for Indus OS users.

The new Indus keyboard will have speech-to-text capabilities for 23 Indian languages such as Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Urdu, Nepali, Bodo, Dogri, Sanskrit, Konkani, Maithili, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Manipuri, Kashmiri Arabic, Santili and English. Unlike Google’s systems, Indus has made this feature an OS-integrated one.

The new keyboard update will be released to existing Indus OS users and will be available on all new and future Indus OS devices from manufacturers such as Micromax, Intex, Celkon, Swipe, Karbonn and Trio. The updated keyboard also lets users convert their selfies/photos to GIFs or stickers, which will help them add life to their WhatsApp conversations.

The Indus keyboard already had some notable India-specific features such as ‘matra’ prediction, auto-correction, text-to-speech, Hinglish keyboard functionality and Indus Swipe.
