The Kaspersky Free has already been tested out in a variety of markets like Russia, Ukraine, China, and Sweden.

Russian security vendor Kaspersky has now announced a free antivirus which is intelligently called Kaspersky Free. This antivirus comes with an essential feature to block malware which keeps your computer protected.

The Kaspersky Free has already been tested out in a variety of markets like Russia, Ukraine, China, and Sweden, without an official announcement. The Russian parent company has stated that the feedback has been positive, thus proving a worldwide launch is required.

The launch of the new free antivirus will take place in stages starting July with the biggest global markets which are US, Canada, and Kazakhstan. Countries like United Kingdon, france, Italy, and Spain will only receive the security software in October.

“With practically zero promo activity Kaspersky Free was installed several million times, in doing so cranking up our market share considerably. Not that increasing market share is our aim; our aim is to raise the overall level of protection on the Internet,” founder Eugene Kaspersky explains.

In terms of features, users will get the essential modules which include the award-winning antivirus engine to scan the local files, web antivirus for keeping an eye on web traffic, scripts, and other online threats. Also provided are IM antivirus modules to block malicious IM messages and also phishing attempts, and mail antivirus which help block threats which could be spreading via email.

However, other tools like a firewall, private browsing, and application control are only available as part of Kaspersky Internet Security, so users have to purchase a license for this one.
