YouTube now adjusts videos according to the screen of your device

Since 2017 I/O developer conference, Google has been busy fulfilling the promises that it made to the world regarding its apps and services. Most of the apps from Google’s Suite and the popular Android OS have been garnished with a constant array of updates. The YouTube app received many considerable updates, with the latest one related to VR180 immersive video format. Today, there’s another one.

The update that we are talking about today is about the adjustment of a video's aspect ratio. The app will now be able to adjust the aspect ratio of the video regardless of the format it has been shot in. Therefore, a video shot vertically through a smartphone will appear vertically on the YouTube player window by default, with no black bars.

The aspect ratio of any video will be adjusted according to the device you are viewing on. This should work out for users of smartphones with 18:5:9 display ratio, like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the LG G6, to utilise the full-screen space for YouTube videos. This will also mean that you won’t have to go full screen every time to enjoy videos at their best.

The update is slowly rolling out across the globe and will reach out to your phone shortly if your phone hasn’t picked up the update.
