Google will soon roll out support for in-line replies to messages from notifications.

Just like Android, users will now be able to respond to a message from a supporting app — Hangouts for instance, in the pop-up box instead of switching tasks entirely just to reply the text.

Android users have had the options of replying to texts directly through notifications for years, so why can’t you do the same thing on your Chromebook? Well now you can. Google has rolled out support for in-line replies to messages from notifications.

Just like Android, users will now be able to respond to a message from a supporting app — Hangouts for instance, in the pop-up box instead of switching tasks entirely just to reply the text.

The feature is yet to be included in the public builds, and is currently unfinished. Google itself has warned that there aren’t any animations or a ‘submit’ icon to send the message with a click. The new feature will likely take some time before users can actually try it themselves.

Whenever it arrives though, it should make things easier if users want to keep the conversation going while they are binge watching their favourite series on Netflix.

Previously, Google also introduced its ‘Go Back with Backspace’ chrome extension. Users can now add this extension and restore the ‘backspace as back’ functionality to the browser, which has permanently been removed from the default Chrome version.
