Xbox Game Pass: The next big thing!

In a move that could change how we play games, Microsoft has announced that every first party game will be available on day one, at no extra cost, to subscribers of Xbox Game Pass. This will include all upcoming games such as Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3.

Game Pass is a service that lets you play over a hundred Xbox One and backwards compatible games for a monthly fee of Rs 699, as long you remain subscribed. This list includes popular first party games like Halo 5 and Gears of War 4, as well as third party games such as WWE 2K17 and MGS V.

For the price of roughly two full priced games a year, players gain access to over a hundred from a wide variety of genres. Whether you were into modern shooters or indie platforms, Game Pass already had that covered. But its value will increase tenfold with this new initiative. Let’s say you want to play the campaign of the next mainline Halo game. Now instead of paying over Rs 4,000, you can spend Rs 699, play the game and finish it in a couple of days. If you want to continue playing it, you can keep subscribing to Game Pass while also getting access to dozens of other games that might hold your interest. If not, you got to play the campaign for less than 1/4th the price.

While perfect for single player games, it also allows you to try brand new multiplayer titles. This move makes it all the more exciting, and paves the way for a gigantic shift in how we play games.
