Microsoft has unveiled two new entrants to its Surface family in India with the Surface Book 2 and Surface Laptop.

The Surface Book 2 is touted as the most powerful Surface device ever made. Microsoft claims that the Book 2 is up to five times more powerful than the original. The convertible device features the latest 8th Gen Intel Dual-Core or Quad-Core processors, along with NVIDIA’s GeForce GPUs. Some of the highlights of the laptop include a backlit keyboard and the availability of both USB Type-A and USB Type-C ports.

The Book 2 supports four different modes — a Studio Mode, Laptop Mode, View Mode, or even Tablet mode, which lets you detach the screen. The Surface Book 2 will be available in 13.5-inch and 15-inch variants. Microsoft boasts of a 17-hour battery life, making it suitable for enterprise users.

On the other hand, the Surface Laptop brings the classic laptop form in a sleek and elegant clamshell device. The Laptop weigh around 1.25Kg and is less than 14.5mm thin. The Surface Laptop features a signature keyboard covered in Alcantara and large precision trackpad. Microsoft offers the 7th generation Intel Core processors with the laptop. Battery life is claimed to last up to 14.5 hours. The Laptop comes preloaded with Windows 10 in S mode, which ensures streamlined security and superior performance by only allowing apps from the Microsoft Store.

The Surface Book 2 starts at Rs 1,37,999 for the base 13.5-inch variant with a Core i5 chip, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM and Intel HD Graphics 620, and goes up to Rs 2,95,999 for the 15-inch variant with Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 1060 GPU. The Surface Laptop, on the other hand, starts at Rs 86,999 for the Core i5 model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB SSD, and goes up to Rs 2,33,999 for the Core i7 variant with 1TB SSD and 16GB of RAM.
