Bengaluru: Mumbai Rockets emerged on top in a tough test against P.V. Sindhu’s Hyderabad Hunters in the Premier Badminton League at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Saturday. After defeating Hyderabad by an overall tally of 4-2, they will now play Bengaluru Raptors in the final of PBL Season 4 on Sunday.

The tie began with the men’s doubles fixture between Gi Kung Kim and Yong Dae Lee of the Rockets and Bodin Isara and Sa Rang Kim of the Hunters.

A well-balanced first set was pocketed by Mumbai in the end, winning 15-14. Isara and Rang Kim continued to go toe-to-toe with Jung Kim and Dae Lee in the second set but the latter duo came out on top winning the set 15-12.

Mumbai struck first and opted to play their trump game chip for the next fixture.

In the second fixture — men’s singles — Sameer Verma beat Mark Caijouw to help Mumbai increase their lead.

Hyderabad then called upon their star P.V. Sindhu in an effort to pull one back. She had to play with the trump game chip against Mumbai’s Shreyanshi Pardeshi. Sindhu outplayed Shreyanshi 15-6, 15-5.

With Hyderabad gaining some momentum, they managed to level themselves with a win in the next men’s singles fixture where Hyun Lee Hyun beat Anders Antonsen.

Hyun sealed both the game and the match for Mumbai.
