Central YMCA score big win in SBPL

Central YMCA overwhelmed 45 Degrees 81-26 to earn a bonus point in the Sporting Lions Premier Basketball League. Going into half-time, 45 Degrees had managed 11 points on the scoreboard with Central YMCA scoring 36. In the second half, 45 Degrees added 15 points to their total and their opponents piled on 45.

The league has reached the penultimate group stage and the teams are beginning to pull away from the chasing pack with their eyes set on securing the top spot in their respective groups.

This weekend saw three of of the 10 games end with a margin of 35 points or more, while the rest are playing catch up and scrambling to get the top two spots and make it to the semi-finals with just one final game to go.

In the other blow out match, Indian Gymkhana trounced Mumbai Strikers 91-51 in an adrenaline pumping high octane game, which produced most points in a match in SBPL. Mumbai Strikers, although handed a heavy defeat, displayed grit and determination to keep fighting till the last minute instaed of throwing in the towel.

Vasai hoopsters triumphed over Kaddanals 65-24 to become the third team to pick up the bonus points this week.

The top four teams as of the penultimate round are Central YMCA, Don Bosco, Savio's (Matunga) & Chinagate. The finals of the SBPL are scheduled for February 25.
