Having started his career in racing only three years back, 19-year-old Rajiv Sethu is already considered to be a promising young talent, owing to his quick learning ability and by securing multiple podium finishes.

The youngster is a national champion in Pro Stock 165cc, and participated in the Asian Dream Cup for two years, apart from securing multiple podium finishes in CBR 250R Honda One Make Race Championship. He also recently participated in the Asian Road Racing Championship 2017 in Asia Production 250cc class and finished in the 19th position. Rajiv opens up about his career and much more.

“I started my racing career at the age of 16 with Honda Ten 10 Racing Academy,” he starts, and adds, “Basically, ever since I was young, I loved speed. I used to do speed rides on the cycle as a kid and eventually, I pursued racing. I also owe a lot to my parents, who have been pillars of strength to me.”

Speaking about how he started his training in racing, he says, “Initially, I got in touch with Sarath  (racer S. Sarath Kumar), and he advised me to join Honda Ten 10 Racing Academy. I trained there for a couple of years and  I got gym training, riding training and more.”

Apart from racing, Rajiv is pursuing his B.Com degree through distance education. Sharing his thoughts on the racing scene in the city, he says, “It’s very good now and it has been growing well for the past three years.”

As a young racer, Rajiv has a few suggestions for bike racing enthusiasts.

“There’s no point in speeding down the roads… you gain nothing. If you’re really passionate, then ride in race tracks and you’ll learn sporting spirit, determination and probably, you will also gain a lot of fame,” he says and takes leave.
