Women’s cricket team coach Arothe resigns

According to sources, Arothe had a meeting with a few cricket board officials last week in Mumbai.

Mumbai: Tushar Arothe, the 51-year-old coach of the Indian women’s team has tendered his resignation to the cricket board, it is learnt here.

According to sources, Arothe had a meeting with a few cricket board officials last week in Mumbai.

The meeting was attended by CoA member Diana Edulji, BCCI chief executive Rahul Johri and cricket operations manager Saba Karim.

Arothe was invited to explain his side of the story after few leading players including T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed reservations over his style of working. The BCCI has agreed to accept Arothe’s resignation and Saba Karim is believed to have informed him of the same.

Arothe replaced Purnima Rao last year. Arothe, who sent his resignation on Monday night, refused to comment when approached at his Baroda residence.

He is likely to go to the Gulf to coach before heading to California in September, it is learnt here.
