How the International Space Station works

This is a NASA technology video documentary tour that is structured to show you inside the International Space Station (ISS), a space station that works in low Earth orbit. In 1998, the ISS was first launched into orbit, and now it is the largest artificial body in orbit. It can often be seen with the human naked eye whenever it is passing above you in the sky. The crew on the ISS can only stay in space orbit for several months. They must then return to Earth.

Various science experiments are performed on the ISS. The ISS’ interior consists of pressurized modules, external trusses, solar arrays, and many other components. The ISS components have been launched by Russian Proton and Soyuz rockets as well as American Space Shuttles. NASA and many other countries help construct the ISS.
