The idea that sexual intercourse helps burn calories is actually a myth.

Apart from the pleasure involved, sex is also seen as an activity which is highly beneficial to health and among other benefits like lowering blood pressure and preventing heart diseases, burning calories rapidly is also seen as a result of an active sex life.

But while people rejoice at the outcome of sex on their fitness , a study seems to burst the bubble with a revelation that the common perception is actually little more than a myth.

A report published in New England Journal of Medicine said that a man weighing 154 lbs manages to burn close to 210 calories in a bout of sex, which is simply the same as taking a walk at moderate pace.

Considering that a man might spend a third of that energy watching television, the additional calories burnt during intercourse are only 14 kcal.

So one reason for having sex turns out to be a myth if the study is to be believed, but then, aren’t there enough reasons to go for it already
