Kids stea the show

With differently-abled children performing on stage, guests just couldn’t take their eyes off them at this recent do. Although “Advaita — I am You”, an evening of fashion, dance and music presented by Lilliane Foundation at Shangri-La Hotel saw the presence by actor Harman Baweja and Mughda Godse, the celebrities of the evening, however were kids.
Designer Monisha Bajaj, who made an early entry, shared her desire to do something for the differently-abled. “I’m not really contributing in a major way to any cause for these kids, but would love to do something for street kids,” she said.
Adding glam quotient to the evening was also Sonalika Sahay, who trained the kids to walk the ramp. So, how did she find the experience? “I always wanted to do something for these special children and I really enjoyed each and every moment of teaching them how to walk the ramp with grace and poise.”
Harman clad in a cool red tee seemed quite touched by the performance of kids on stage, and was enjoying every part of the evening. Shaking a leg with the kids on stage, Harman said, “Although I have worked with various institutions that help special kids, this experience was completely different and I’m really happy to be here and be a part of this.”

Voice for a cause
In a city where designers and socialites always stand up for a social cause, the launch of “Stop Sex Trafficking of Children and Young People Petition in India”, in the capital recently, was marked by the presence of many celebs.
The campaign, which is globally supported by celebrities like Sir Ben Kingsley, Robert Pattinson, Katie Melua, Naomi Campbell, and others, has Indian designers Arjun Kapoor, Anjali Kapoor, Leena, Samant Chauhan, and Nida Mahmood including a few more supporting it. The guests were spotted enthusiastically spreading a good word about the cause.

Sacred space for art lovers
When Aslam Shaikh exhibited “Sacred made real”, his works capturing the spiritual realms of Kerala, at the Oberoi Hotel recently, guests were hooked by the artist’s creation. Presented by Triveda Fine Arts, the exhibition was well-attended by some of the artist’s close friends and dignitaries.
Discussions revolved around art, and how well Aslam had depicted masks of Gods, the vitality of Pulikalli to the magic of Kudiyattam, the narrative of expressions standing out in his works.
The show, which was about the secret domain of the scared and the profane, got many thinking about its various aspects.
