After a thanda party season last month, Delhi is now back to its normal self and buzzing with activity. The fashion fraternity’s calendar is full of launches, shows and new store openings, and some may call it the change of seasons, but we like to call it the September effect.

So, the first one to kickstart the party season was designer J.J. Valaya, who opened his flagship store at The Gallery on MG. He also launched the first edition of the Alika jacket, and told us how this jacket is his attempt to create an icon. He said, “This jacket is my creation and it’s my attempt to create an iconic style with it. You may see further additions and changes in coming days, but the basic concept will remain the same.”
Though the venue was a little away from the capital, Valaya’s friends and well-wishers made it to the store and congratulated him for the venture. From fashion designers to socialites and models, almost everyone made it to the party and praised the store.
At the party, we caught up with actor Naseer Abdullah, who was busy checking out the clothes. He said, “I don’t like to dress up too much, and I like casual clothes. Though I must say that the men’s section is really nice here.”
