Shiv Kapur shot a four-under 67 in windy conditions to sit one shot behind the leader at the halfway stage of the 150 million yen (approximately $1.27 million) Panasonic Open Golf Championship on Friday.

Kapur with rounds of 68 and 67 is seven-under 135 behind Japan’s Kodai Ichihara. Ichichara is also chasing for a career breakthrough win and leads at eight-under-par 134 at the Chiba Country Club, Umesato course.

Two other Indians Rahil Gangjee (69-73) in tied-39th, down from overnight tied 13th and Jeev Milkha Singh (74-70) up from tied 88th overnight to the cutline at tied 61 made the cut. The cut fell at two-over as Chiragh Kumar (74-72), Gaganjeet Bhullar (73-73), Jyoti Randhawa (72-74) and Himmat Rai (75-74) missed out.

SSP is tied 10th in China In Shenzhen, China, S.S.P Chawrasia produced a solid four-under 68 to regain his tied 10th place at the halfway stage of the $2.8 million Shenzhen International, where play was suspended overnight before round two could be completed.

Chawrasia experienced the highs and lows on the first day itself as he was lying tied-third from where he fell to Tied-50th in a matter of two holes, where he double bogeyed and bogeyed another. However, he was in great form over the last 12 holes.

Meanwhile, Korea’s Soomin Lee stormed into a three shot lead on a weather-interrupted second day.
