U2 highest paid band for 2009

Irish rock band U2 has been named the highest earning band all over the world for the year 2009.
The group which consists of Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr are in the middle of staging their “360 degree tour” which has been put on halt this summer due to vocalist Bono’s back injury.

According to Forbes they were estimated to have made £84.9 million, including ticket and merchandise sales and a steady-selling back catalogue, Telegraph reported online.
Followed by U2 on the second spot is rock band AC/DC, which earned £74.5 million.
The third spot has been grabbed by singer Beyonce Knowles while the fourth, fifth and sixth spot has been occupied by Bruce Springsteen, Britney Spears and Jay Z respectively. —PTI
