Filmmaker O.P. Dutta passes away

Veteran filmmaker and writer O.P. Dutta passed away in Mumbai on Thursday night following a bout of pneumonia at the Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri. The 80-plus filmmaker started his career as a director with Pyaar Ki Jeet in 1947, followed by Surajmukhi, Ek Nazar, Malkin, Aangan and others. He even wrote films for his son, noted director J.P. Dutta. Under their banner, they made films like Ghulami, Hathyar, Border, Refugee and LOC Kargil. His last film as a writer was Umrao Jaan.

The funeral was held at the Shivaji Park crematorium at 10 am. Apart from son J.P. Dutta, daughter-in-law Bindiya Gosawmi and his grandchildren, some Bollywood celebrities like Abhishek Bachchan, Suniel Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Anu Malik and Roop Kumar Rathore attended the funeral.
