Swedish House Mafia may have broken up but the world definitely hasn’t seen the last of the immensely popular progressive house DJ, Steve Angello. The Greek-Swedish remixer and record producer is touring the world with Don’t Let Daddy Know, one of the world’s largest touring house music festivals, which has already covered locations like Amsterdam, Turkey, Chile and Ibiza and is now coming to Mumbai on May 27. In a candid interaction, the Tell Me Why hitmaker spoke about his tour experiences so far, what it’s like to go solo and the nuances of the music he plays.

Don’t Let Daddy Know is one of the biggest dance music festivals. How has the experience been so far Don’t Let Daddy Know is just one massive party. I have played at DLDK before and the experience has been magical and pleasing. I look forward to the Indian edition and I am glad and excited to connect with my Indian fans once again as I am coming here for the first time after SHM’s One Last Detour. It’s also my very first solo outing in the country.

What are some of your favourite memories of the tour There are a lot. I get really overwhelmed with all the love I get. My fans are the most amazing people on the planet and they keep motivating me to do better.

What has performing solo been like It’s been so far so good. I am really enjoying my solo outings and I’ve moved out of my comfort zone and I believe that is what produces groundbreaking results for me.

Which has been your favourite edition of DLDK thus far DLDK is an amazing experience. Whichever city I went I received the same amount of love and the magnitude of the festival is something to reckon with. However, I can’t place a finger on what city I enjoyed performing for the most.

What do you have to say about the kind of music that’s been churned out today A lot of music today is hard house, but is labeled under electronic music because some DJs play it on their sets. The primary issue today is the lack of originality in artists.

How has going solo affected your music I believe in constantly adapting and evolving. The transition with going solo was a different route altogether. It wasn’t that smooth but I have adapted quite well. I always wanted to tell a story. I grew up listening to artists who did exactly that and I too am doing that now. I am making music, which has a purpose.

Do you see yourself branching out into other genres or do you think you’ll stick with progressive house I like to experiment and adapt. I like to keep my music fresh. I draw inspirations from anywhere and everywhere. Also, I am someone who takes music seriously and if I feel that I can bring something new and fresh to the table, I will take it ahead and nothing will stop me from branching out.

What are some of your personal favourites among the many songs that you have produced or performed It is really hard to pick but Wasted Love is my favorite. I really enjoyed working with Dougy on it.
