By stalling the Upper House for third consecutive day, the Opposition party members in the state Legislative Council have made their intentions clear that they are not willing to budge on the issue of alleged corruption by some of the ministers in the BJP-led state government. The protests would continue till action is taken against the tainted ministers, said the opposition members.

“We want the CM to give us an assurance that action will be taken against corrupt ministers. But he has completely ignored our demand for discussion on the issue of corruption. So we are left with no option but to protest in the house,” said leader of Opposition (LoP) Dhananjay Munde.

The Legislative Council was adjourned for three consecutive days as the opposition party members vehemently demanded the resignation of ministers, against whom corruption allegations have been levelled. However, the CM has refused to take any action in the matter claiming that the allegations are baseless.

“If even a single allegation against any of my ministers is proved true, they will be removed from the Cabinet. But if the opposition continue to make charges, which are unfounded, no action will be taken,” the CM had said on the debate on corruption in the Upper House last week.

The CM’s flat refusal has irked the opposition members, who have intensified their protests by stalling the proceedings of the house.
