Saamana says actor Aamir Khan should not claim to be patriotic

Joining the bandwagon castigating Bollywood actor Aamir Khan for his remarks about the growing intolerance in the country, Shiv Sena on Wednesday slammed the actor saying “leaving the country is being dishonest.”

The Sena in its mouthpiece Saamana has also advised Aamir and others who speak on the issue to not claim be patriotic if they do not feel affection towards the country. Social and political circles have witnessed intense churning over Aamir’s insecurity about growing intolerance and comment to move out of the country.

“The language of leaving this country is dishonest. You keep the wealth given by this country here. If India is not safe to stay then where would Idiot Ranchhoddas want to go Those who do not have any affection towards the country should not claim to be patriotic and talk about ‘Satyamev Jayate’” the editorial said in the backdrop of Aamir Khan’s remarks.

Taking a dig at the ‘Khans’ in Bollywood, the Saamana has said that they do talk about leaving the country sometimes. Shahrukh Khan had also expressed similar sentiments in past, it added. “It is difficult to understand what is bothering them here. The same country has given them money, pride and popularity. Aamir was honoured with the national award. Despite sharp criticism on Hindu Gods, Aamir’s movie PK earned crores of rupees here. Was it because the country was intolerant If Aamir and his wife feel so much insecure in the country, then they should release their movies in other countries,” the edit said.

Pointing at other Bollywood actors, the Sena asked why they did not have the same feeling of leaving the country “Amitabh Bachchan, Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar, Feroz Khan, Salim Khan and Salman Khan never feared enough to leave the country. Dilip Kumar alias Yusuf Khan was born in Peshavar but never thought of running away from the country because of the crisis situation,” it said. The Sena has also questioned if Aamir would take a stand when Muslims across the globe are terrified due to ISIS and running away from Syria and other countries. Citing the example of shaheed Santosh Mahadik who was killed fighting Pakistani soldiers, the Sena asked what would have happened if the family of Mahadik had thought on the same lines as Aamir.
