Security personnel of the Taj Mahal Palace on Wednesday evening allegedly roughed up photographers and cameramen from the media, restraining them from taking photographs of Apple CEO Tim Cook during his maiden visit to India.

When Mr Cook, who arrived in the city early on Wednesday morning, was coming out of the hotel around 6 pm, his security personnel stopped the media from taking pictures. Mediapersons then requested a photo opportunity, to which Mr Cook agreed. However, the Taj hotel’s security personnel started pushing away photographers and later roughed them up. In protest against this alleged outrage, mediapersons staged a protest in front of the hotel on the same day.

The Colaba police said, “The security personnel didn’t allow the media to take photographs and later photographers alleged that they were hit by them. We are looking into the matter and, if necessary, we will file a complaint against the culprits.”

Mr Cook landed in Mumbai on a private jet from China. He visited the Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai in the morning with Anant Ambani, son of Reliance Industries chairman, Mukesh Ambani.
