A 41-year-old deputy manager working with the ICICI bank was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint and robbed of cash and valuables worth `1.33 lakh on Tuesday night.

A 41-year-old deputy manager working with the ICICI bank was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint and robbed of cash and valuables worth `1.33 lakh on Tuesday night.

His car was stationed at Kherwadi junction, when two goons took him for a ride and left him in the Fort area after robbing him.

According to the MRA Marg police, the incident occurred around 7.10 pm on the Kherwadi junction when the victim Amit Rai (41) had left his office at Bandra-Kurla Complex and was homebound. Rai is a resident of Yari road in Andheri (west).

At the junction, one of the two goons got in from the back door and pointed a pistol to Mr Rai’s head. The second goon then got in. They took Mr Rai till Sion Bridge and tied him up and made him sit in the back seat. They then took his credit and debit cards and withdrew `50,000 and `30,000 respectively from an ATM machine in the Fort area. They also took his laptop and `53,000 in cash.

Senior police inspector Sukhlal Warpe of the MRA Marg police station confirmed the development. An FIR has been registered under sections 392 (robbery), 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC.

The police is also verifying if the allegations made by Rai are true. Rai has said that he did not know who the accused were.

Based on his allegations, the police is checking the CCTV cameras in the ATM kiosk to see if the accused can be seen in it.
