The Thane police has arrested six people in connection with the Rs 9-crore robbery case on Thursday.

The arrested accused include a former and a current employee at the store which was robbed, claimed sources. The identity of the other arrested have not been revealed yet. The police has, however, not been able to identify the accused captured on CCTV footage as it is unclear and is currently struggling to find the accused.

A driver whose car was used in the robbery was questioned on Wednesday but he has not revealed anything yet, claimed sources.

The Thane police has questioned more than 50 people in two days in connection with this case and have narrowed down to a former and a current employee of the store to have been a part of the robbery. Commenting on the case, a source said, “The police officials have checked CCTV footage in possible areas from where they might have escaped on the day of the robbery. Unfortunately, the CCTV footage from toll plazas is not clear enough to identify the accused.”

He further added, “The seized vehicle is a car and it matches with the one visible in the CCTV footage collected from the toll plaza and nearby areas. The driver, however, has been claiming that he did not lend his car to anyone.”

“There are four teams are working on the case on different aspects and we hope to crack the case soon,” said an official on condition of anonymity.

On Tuesday, about seven to eight unidentified men had barged into a Checkmate Services pvt ltd in Thane and robbed the store of around Rs 9.16 crore in cash.
