The Mumbai police on Saturday registered three new cases against organisers for violating guidelines set by the Supreme Court regarding Dahi Handi celebrations in the city. These three FIRs come a day after 21 complaints were registered against organisers at various police stations in the city for flouting rules. Sources revealed that Yuva Sena had been booked for causing noise pollution and holding an event without police permission in Bandra.

In Kherwadi police station, two FIRs were registered against organisers for holding a handi-breaking event without seeking police permission and causing noise pollution. Interestingly, both the offences took place at Government Colony in Bandra.

“All the organisers had to apply for police permissions, but our policemen found that two events which were held in the Government Colony premises did not have the official permissions,” said a police source from Kherwadi police station. One offence occurred at Building number 1 of the colony and the second in Building number 2.

When asked who the organisers were, senior police inspector, Sujata Patil, Kherwadi police station, said, “One of the organisers is the Yuva Sena, which held an event in Government Colony and flouted noise pollution rules. No arrests have been made yet as we are still investigating the case.”

The third case was registered at Kurar police station for flouting SC guidelines over the limit of the human pyramid.

According to the police, the FIR was registered against Srvinayak Govind Pathak, who organised a handi-breaking event near Hanuman Mandir in Indiranagar in Kurar village of Malad.

“The organisers set up a human pyramid that was nearly 36 feet high,” said an officer from Kurar police station.

He added that the organiser also made an eight-year-old climb up to the top tier and break the handi.
