Board eyes new system to avoid paper leaks
This decision was made as last year around five question papers of HSC were leaked.
Mumbai: In view of the HSC paper leaks, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) before commencing the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations, had announced that the system of sending the question papers to the exam centres would be changed but only for the SSC examinations. This decision was made as last year around five question papers of HSC were leaked. The board officials confirmed that they weren’t expecting any question paper leaks for SSC.
A source close to the MSBSHSE confirmed that from the next academic year, the board has asked the Maharashtra education board to consider the new system used for SSC as well in order to prevent question paper leaks.
As per the new system for academic year 2017-18, instead of sending HSC question papers online through the digital system, it would be sent in a sealed envelope to all the centres in the Mumbai region. Each envelope will have a set of 25 question papers. The envelope is unsealed in the respective classroom minutes before the examination begins.
Moreover, during the unsealing process, the supervisor is supposed to tag along two students as witness. Nobody is allowed to carry mobile when the question papers are unsealed.
