Flesh trade on local trains to be under scanner: Piyush Goyal

MUMBAI: Union minister Piyush Goyal during his visit to Matunga railway station on Sunday, which is run by a central railway staff that features only women, said that human trafficking, especially those related to woman and child, in Mumbai suburban will be under the scanner because of the proposed induction of CCTV units in each coach of suburban trains by 2022.

Mr Goyal went on to explain that the use of railway network for human trafficking is a major cause of concern, he said, “We have been seeing some success in terms of catching the trafficking activities in other states, a recent example has been seen in Bangalore city where the security personnel was able to identify this peculiar behaviour on and traced the women and children rescued them.”

Mr Goyal said, “We want to make railways completely safe for women by the 2022 and we are taking steps for the same.”
